Parking at Howard Center for the Arts

Please be reminded that the Howard Center for the Performing Arts is NOT in the Roman Catholic High School building, but it is in a building of its own at 1212 Wood Street.

 

All Members Entering the Howard Center for the Performing Arts (1212 Wood Street):

• If looking at the Howard Center (see photo #2), do not enter in the main entrance, rather enter the garage to the left of the main entrance (at the other end of the building - see photo #3)

• Walk straight up the small ramp to the wall and turn left to enter through the "Stairwell No. 2" door underneath the EXIT sign (see photo #4)

• Walk up a flight of stairs, pass the practice rooms, turn left and you'll see the band room to the right.

If Parking at the Howard Center (1212 Wood Street):

• There are approximately 20 parking spots on the ground floor of the building. First come, first serve. PLEASE AVOID PARKING IN THE HANDICAP SPOT!

• You'll be driving west on Wood Street when you arrive at the Center. Continue past the front entrance and turn right into the parking garage (see photos #2 and #3)

• Follow the instructions above with entering the building. Keep in mind that the correct stairwell to use is near the entrance of the parking garage.

If Parking at the main building of Roman Catholic High School (301 N Broad Street) - The entrance to the school is on Vine Street, not Broad, and you must be traveling west on Vine Street yo access the parking lot since Highway 676 splits the the eastbound/westbound lanes of Vine Street.

• If there is no more parking at the Howard Center:

  • Continue driving on Wood Street

  • Turn right onto 12th street (the next stop sign)

  • Turn right again at the light onto Vine Street (stay in the right lane)

  • Cross 13th Street and  BEFORE you get to the next light at Broad Street, turn right into the Roman Catholic Parking lot.

  • BE PREPARED TO TAKE AN IMMEDIATE LEFT into the Roman Catholic lot (see photo No. 1). The lot to the right does not belong to them, but a hunger charity.

  • There are about 35 parking spots here, so there will be ample space.

• Walking to the Howard Center

  • Walk out of the lot and turn left (walking against the traffic on Vine Street)

  • Turn left on 13th street (walking WITH the traffic)

  • Turn right onto Wood Street

  • Follow the instructions above with entering the building

Words of Caution:

• Like any public place you park, do not have valuables out in plain sight

• Be aware of your surroundings

• After rehearsal, walk back to the Roman lot with others in the ensemble if you feel uncomfortable
